How to calculate the cranked mark?
To calculate the cranked mark for assessments (e.g. knowledge-based tests or OSCEs), we need to have knowledge of raw mark percentage, passing mark percentage, and percentile.
The cranked marks are entirely different from raw marks if an exam has a pass mark using the absolute approaches (e.g., Angoff method, Ebele method and Hofstee method).
Therefore, we need to equate the raw marks according to the pass mark identified by the University ( Early Years and CP1= 40%, CP2 and CP3=50%).
To calculate the cranked mark, the percentage mark is equated to either 40 % ( Early Years and CP1) or 50% (CP2 or CP3) to make a pass/fail decision.
Therefore If students receive a cranked mark greater than or equal to 40% or 50% or receive a raw mark percentage greater or equal to the pass mark, they will pass the exam.
Below, please enter your raw mark%, pass mark%, and percentile to get the cranked mark and the outcome (pass or fail)
Note: You should have the exact percentile for your exam in order to get the accurate cranked mark. If you do not have it, please request it.
